Finished with my Artwork! ... Evaluation

Yesterday, I realized that I had forgotten to finish my artwork which was supposed to be handed in today. Therefore I freaked out that I wouldn't be able to finish it during the lesson today, so I asked for a week's extension. However, actually, I was able to finish today!!

I feel I have been very effective in today's lesson, because I have been able to
- finish the henna drawing
- finish drawing the person with the traditional dress in the middle
- finish the drawing of trees
- Shaded the entire paper
- and done some final sketches

Evaluation

What was good?
I feel that I conveyed my culture into the drawing very well, by adding features that did not include any religious meaning, as I was supposed to draw shoes also, which would seem disrespectful. However, I didn't only include my Indian culture, but also my Norwegian culture, as I created both Norwegian type and Indian type mountains. The henna was great to symbolize my main culture as Indian, and it includes my name in Punjabi(the language that I speak). Also, the traditional dress symbolizes my culture, by showing the traditional clothing in it.

In addition, I feel that it is good how I managed to create atmospheric perspective by shading it darkest in the front, and creating lighter shadows as they go back. I have included gradiation as well, by creating it the darkest in front, to the left, and slowly shading it lighter as it goes along to the right. The shading is in my opinion successful. Also, linear perspective, by adding the light lamps. These may symbolize something which is in both countries.

The actual shoe I think is good, because it includes proper shading and contours. It was not very difficult to draw, as I used much of the same  shades as with the practice sheet from last time.

What could have been improved?
I may not have included as much about my Norwegian culture, as I did Indian, mostly because I feel that the Indian culture is more a part of me, even though I know that I live in Norway, and am surrounded their culture. Also, the shading of the shoe could have been more exaggerated as I had done with the previous drawing, but overall I think it looks good. The shading of the Himalaya mountains could have been done in a more proper way, as it looks like it is a bit rush (which is was).

Even though, overall I feel the drawing was successful, and I am happy that I was able to finish it on time on the due date. I worked very effectively, and hope to get good results.

Previous lesson, starting the assignment

During the last lesson, I finalized the design that I wanted for my drawing, which included shoes (of course), henna, some mountains that looked like typical Norwegian mountains, and some Himalayan mountains behind those, a person holding a flag and some more. I was able to start on my drawing as well, where I began drawing the outline of the shoe ( I decided only to draw one shoe) and slightly shade them in. This took the whole lesson, as I was very careful to do it properly. Even so, I think that the shoe may be too small, which means that I may have to do it again tomorrow. Anyways, we'll wait and see.

This picture is of the drawing mentioned in the previous posts, where I drew both of my shoes. In my opinion, the one to the right looks better than the one to the left, the reason being that I spent most time doing the right one. Still, they look pretty good overall, and is something I would like to include in my final drawing as well.
